Description:

How to build a windmill or wind motor the old fashioned way, just like the old ones you see on the farm. This book shows you how to build the frame, tower, blades and how to hook up an electric generator, all exactly as it was done in the early 1900's.

5Historical PerspectiveMar 17, 2012
By T. Becker "Windwater"
Thank you Skyhorse Publishing for your books on the roots of our modern technologies. This will be the 3rd Skyhorse book that I've gone through (other being Barns and Outbuildngs: and how to build them by Byron Halsted and Shelters, Shacks, and Shanties: and how to make them written by the man who founded the Boy Scouts of America!) and, again, is a fascinating read. Each is a re-print of a historical text written by an expert of their time. For anyone interested in the `new fad' of going green then these books are for you. Windmills and Wind Motors brings that historic, pre national electric grid, practical and common-sense approach to lay-person wind energy production. In the very first paragraph of the first chapter the Author (back in 1910!) bemoans why more are not looking into wind as a free energy source.

I look forward to trying out more Skyhorse Publishing books. Keep them coming!

1Reproduction of a book 100 years old ... did not know when I bought it.Apr 10, 2012

.

If you are looking for up-to-date technology ... DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK.

Whoever is selling it should clearly let readers know it is a book originally published 100 years ago.

I feel like I've been shammed!

This book has nothing worth reading in it. It said 2012 but was likely written 50-100 years ago. There is no reason for this book to still be in print. It says on the back in small letter "Printed in China", which might explain why it's still in print.
